Porthmadog the sailing connection

In 1993 Wicklow Sailing Club formally twinned with Madog Sailing Club

A long time ago some sailors sailed to Wicklow from Pwllheli in Wales. They got stranded in Wicklow due to foul weather. It was "summer time" The Wicklow Sailing Club came to their assistance, looked after them and their boats. Firm friendships developed. In the following years Wicklow Sailing Cub members visited Pwllheli frequently. While there they met sailors from Madog Yacht Club who invited them to the extremely beautiful port of Porthmadog. They fell in love with the place. For many years Wicklow Sailing Club discussed the possibility of twinning the two clubs. In 1993 the new club Commodore took the bull by the horns and carried through the club twinning and the rest is history.
